Breakfast for Learning

The Breakfast for Learning Program has been feeding children in our school community, for free, for over 2 decades. Teaching children about healthy food choices and nutrition has proven to be very successful!

Our school is a “small school” with a “big heart.” Student enrollment consists of approximately sixty children from Kindergarten to Grade six; ranging from 4 years to 12 years of age.

Every morning Mrs. Maggie Gervais and volunteers prepare and serve free breakfast to all our students. Our regular menu foods are high-fiber cereals, oatmeal, toast, rice cakes, fruits and vegetables of all kind (Mrs. Valiquette is adamant that vegetables are breakfast food too!)! On Special days we will prepare eggs, pancakes and other special treats like muffins or banana wraps! Our students are excited, motivated and ready to learn; once they have received the opportunity to eat nutritious food with their peers in a social, family oriented environment. Statistically, the program has proven to be 100% beneficial and is utilized daily.

We are so grateful to be able to have this program and so are our students! There is nothing quite like hearing “please” and “thank you” 60 times in the morning from the smiling faces of our polite students.
